We had Joel and team in last Spring to completely redo our “kids” bathroom upstairs – I know, why their bathroom and not ours? Don’t worry, Joel is comeback back in April to do ours!
Anyway, back to the “kids” bathroom – although bringing him back to do ours should be a pretty good clue how that turned out…
We had a tight budget as well as specific requests, totally normal and something Joel handled with ease. He provided estimates for exactly what we asked for, but also another option that did everything we needed but provided more cost flexibility by putting our special request (a pocket door) on hold until into the project enough to know if there would be any additional costs due to repairs. You can’t always be sure if the floor needs to be replaced or plumbing repaired until you rip up the floor and yank the tub. Joel and team were quick and clean on the demo, some minor floor repair was required as well as a little plumbing work to fit the new tub – everything on time and on schedule – so we included the pocket door (our favorite piece of the renovation) which is truly an awesome addition with fine detail that sets the tone for how well the project went and looks today!
We also had some last minute requests and changes which Joel accommodated without hesitation and came up with plans to make them work – using some extra marble to line the medicine cabinet cutout lower edge, adding a shower shelf built into the wall, fitting in the new tub around some questionable plumbing pipe design when they built the house but doing so without adding to the budget. Joel also did a little extra work around the house for us while he was here, did a little planning and estimating for our master bath coming up, and went out of his way to fit our needs throughout the process.
Items to point out: the craftsmanship finishing out the pocket door framing, the ease of accepting our last minute additions and changes, coming in under budget and using that extra to add fine details, checking before acting on anything that might alter the budget or for clarifications when needed, the extra added ideas and tips shared based on his experience to make our project more personal, and the overall attention paid to us as clients throughout the process. Joel’s work is great, but his design/artistic sense and relatability make working with him easy and positive!
Simply put, great work, great commitment to the client, great results, and a great process. We were really blown away by the fantastic experience and have our guy from now on!
